Site update . . .

This site has been updated with information about events in the Washington, DC area, a new directory of environmental and energy organizations, and climate change news. Let me invite you to contribute information on events, on organizations you want to have included in the directory, and commentary. Let me also invite you to sign up to receive email updates from the site via Feedburner.

Regarding the directory of organizations (which is admittedly incomplete), the directory includes non-profits and for-profits, fossil energy producers and fossil fuel opponents. I am sure most people reading this know that climate change represents a tremendous problem but also a significant opportunity. We know that the longer it takes to "solve" the problem, the more difficult the solution will be, the more damage we will see in areas such as storms and species extinctions, and the greater the danger that we will reach a "tipping point" at which the damage may progress much more rapidly and uncontrollably. Groups representing divergent views and interests have been included in this new directory because solutions will come more quickly if people with divergent opinions communicate with each other and work to identify areas of agreement on which they can move forward.

One more thing--what's your climate IQ? Answer the three climate questions on the site and see what others know about the present and think about the future of climate change.

Site update . . .

There are so many events, groups, and people, and so much news involving climate change that it's very hard to keep up. To make it easier, we have put together this site. Here you will find a calendar of climate and energy related events in the Washington DC area, news links, links to environmental and energy organizations, a link to our facebook group, and last but not least--three environmental questions for your response.

Introduction: Global Climate Change Coalition (GCCC)

After years of scientific research, (most of) the public has finally accepted that climate change is underway and that human activity is a contributing factor. The next challenge--a challenge that may or may not be met--is to change that human activity. While it may not take absolutely all of us to change, this herculean effort will require the efforts of a tremendous number of people. Some of these efforts will be huge, some will be small; some of these efforts will be well known, some will be unknown. This is simply one of those efforts.
